Green Buildings
Green buildings are becoming a popular architectural design focus and many buildings are being designed and built using “green” concepts. The U.S. Green Buildings Council and the Canadian Green Buildings Council both provide a Green Building Rating System for levels of “green” status. These councils are highly organized providing direction under the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Program.

Generally, to adopt green characteristics in a building should provide economic benefits. For instance using long lasting materials and reducing consumption has obvious fiduciary benefits.

Strictly in the context of photoluminescence, reducing electrical and hard wiring requirements in buildings and other areas also provides for significant savings.
